Spray foam insulation in Las Cruces NM - the right foam and a tightly sealed attic

Hot rooms and a climbing power bill? We spray the right foam in the right order, so your attic ends up sealed and insulated.

Spray foam insulation fills the wall cavities and upper framing of an unfinished room beside tall windows.

Spray foam insulation is foam our crew sprays in place in your Las Cruces home, usually under the roof or in the walls, where it hardens into the insulating layer and seals the gaps air leaks through. The spraying is only part of the job. Which foam you pick and when your house can be empty matter just as much.

Is spray foam the right insulation for my Las Cruces home?

Most calls start with something you feel: a room upstairs that won't cool, a power bill that keeps climbing, or an attic nobody has looked in for years. Foam goes on wet, then expands and hardens, so it fills the cracks around pipes, wires and framing that batts and loose fill leave open. You pay extra for that, and it isn't the right call for every house.

What moves the price is the area we cover, which foam goes on, how thick it goes, and what has to happen first, such as clearing out old material, changing gas equipment or covering the foam afterward. The schedule depends on the same things, plus when your household can be away and whether a permit is needed. Your written estimate lists each step in order, so you can see what you're paying for.

What to settle before foam goes in your attic

Sealing an attic with foam changes how that space works, so a few things need answers before anyone sprays. These are the ones I raise at almost every estimate.

Gas equipment in the attic

If a gas furnace or water heater sits in your attic and pulls its air from up there, sealing the attic changes things. One foam maker's guide says those standard units can't run safely in a sealed attic. Homes like that plan on sealed-combustion or power-vented high-efficiency units, which bring in their own air or vent with a fan, as part of the job.

Fresh air once it's sealed

Foam can seal a house so tightly that the air coming in falls below the minimum fresh-air rates building codes require. That's no reason to skip foam, but you should ask about it. I'd rather we talk through how fresh air will reach your rooms before the attic is sealed than after.

Covering the foam

Some foams need a covering over them, such as a coating or drywall, depending on the product or the code, and some don't. One maker's guide says foam in an attic used for storage needs that covering, such as gypsum or an approved intumescent coating, a paint-like layer that swells with heat. Tell us if you keep things up there.

What happens after you call us about spray foam

Here's how a spray foam job runs, from the first call to the day you're back home. I'm there at the start and at the end.

  1. 1

    Call or send a request

Call (575) 222-9021 or use the form, and tell us what you're noticing, whether that's a hot room, a high bill or an attic nobody has checked. We'll set a time for me to come out.

  2. 2

I look and write it down

I come out myself, look over the attic, walls or crawl space and write down what I see, including anything that needs repair first. You get a written estimate that lists each step in order, along with the foam type and the days you'll be out.

  3. 3

    Permit, prep and spraying

If the job needs a permit, we handle it before we start. On spraying day your household and any other trades are out of the house, and our crew preps and sprays following the foam maker's instructions.

  4. 4

    Final check, then home

I go over the finished work before we pack up. You come back once the re-entry time, the wait before it's okay to go back inside, has passed, as we planned it in the estimate.

How we plan and spray foam insulation

With foam, the planning matters as much as the spraying. Before anything is sprayed, we work out with you which foam fits your space, when the house will be empty and what happens with any gas equipment in the attic. Then we follow the foam maker's instructions on prep, on any covering the foam needs and on when it's okay to go back inside.

I care more about order than speed. A roof leak, bad wiring or gaps nobody sealed don't get better under foam, they just get hidden, so those get fixed first, and I'll tell you plainly if your job isn't ready. Old insulation is often full of dust, debris and sometimes droppings, and one maker's retrofit guide says the attic floor has to be vacuumed before spraying. If the work turns out to be on the attic floor and not the roof, our attic insulation service covers that.

Foam under the roof

We spray the underside of the roof so the attic becomes part of the sealed house. It costs more, and it usually pays off when your ductwork or air handler sits up there.

Seal the gaps, then top up

If your ducts aren't in the attic, sealing the gaps around lights, pipes and the hatch and then adding blown-in insulation, loose fill blown through a hose, usually does the job for less.

We reply within one business day. The estimate is free, done in person and comes with no obligation. After you send the form, I come out myself, look over the space and write out each step so you can see what you're paying for.

Spray foam insulation permits in Las Cruces

In New Mexico, the state's Construction Industries Division takes permit applications for home contracting work that falls under it, and you can reach its Las Cruces office at (575) 524-6320. I won't guess whether a spray foam job on your house needs a permit. Before work starts, I check with the office that covers your address. If a permit is needed, we apply, set up the inspections and keep you posted.

Around Las Cruces, most foam calls we get are about hot rooms, cooling bills and attics nobody has opened in years, and a few come from shops, offices and metal buildings. We plan and spray the same way in Chaparral and Anthony, and I check the permit question with the office for each address there too.

Why Las Cruces homeowners call us for spray foam

I learned this trade under an old-school boss who made me tear out and redo anything that wasn't right, and I started this business in 2023 after years on his crews. I do every estimate visit myself. Our crew does the work, and I run each job and check it before we leave, so the person who looked at your attic is the one who signs off on it.

We're licensed and insured, and our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. I'd rather tell you a job isn't ready yet than spray over a problem. If you want someone to look hard at your attic before anyone quotes a price, call (575) 222-9021 or send a request.

Attic insulation

If the roof doesn't need foam but the attic floor is thin or worn out, this is the job that fixes it.

Blown-in insulation

A lower-cost way to add depth to an attic once its gaps are sealed and no ductwork runs through it.

We're based in Las Cruces and work across the cities around it, including Chaparral, Anthony and Canutillo, TX. The planning is the same everywhere we spray. The office that handles permits depends on your address.

Spray foam questions Las Cruces homeowners ask

How much does spray foam insulation cost in Las Cruces?

Installed spray foam across the US usually costs about $1 to $5 per square foot, with open-cell near the low end and closed-cell near the high end. That's a national market figure, not our price. Your number depends on the area, the foam, the depth and the prep, and my written estimate breaks each of those out.

Should I get open-cell or closed-cell spray foam for my house?

Pick closed-cell when one layer has to handle both heat and moisture, because it works as the insulation and also as a vapor control layer, which limits moisture moving through. Open-cell lets moisture pass, so it can't do that second job, though it costs less. I'll tell you on site which one your space needs.

Do we have to leave the house during spray foam insulation, and for how long?

Yes. Everyone who lives there, plus any other trades, should be out while the foam is sprayed and stay out until it has cured and the house has been aired out and cleaned. For professional two-part, high-pressure foam, some makers recommend 24 hours before you return, though it can vary, so plan a place to stay for the family and pets.

Who is allowed to install spray foam insulation in New Mexico?

New Mexico's Construction Industries Division requires a license for anyone who does or offers construction contracting. Ask whoever quotes your job whether they hold one before you sign anything. The division's Las Cruces office, listed above, is the place to call if you have questions.

How do I get my attic ready for spray foam?

Clear a path to the attic hatch and move out anything stored up there, because the crew needs room to work and the floor gets cleaned before spraying. Tell us about any gas equipment in the attic so it's dealt with ahead of time, and settle your dates away early.
